About the Real CIF Model

The CIF Model is a simple spreadsheet that will show you, at-a-glance, if now is the time for your firm to start sales action on the next potline of CPA's Sorocaba smelter in Brazil, or on the extension of Century Aluminum's Grundartangi smelter in Iceland; and when to start action on Alcoa's future greenfield in Trinidad.

The CIF Model lists every significant project by year, country and smelter (or project), and identifies them as either a greenfield, an extension, a revamping, or shutdown. It rates their probability of completion during that year. It then shows you the yearly impact of each project (according to its probability of completion), and how our experts reconcile that impact with the generally accepted world capacity forecasts for each year through 2014. Our expert analysis determines which individual investment plans are overly optimistic and by how much, thereby adjusting those predictions in the light of known trends in global capacity. These predictions are adjusted and added to on a weekly basis, making the CIF Model one stop for an up-to-date analysis of the market and individual projects.

This information completely empowers your sales team.

You will learn about coming investments well before the public tenders, enabling your team to make the sales pitch before the pre-feasibility study, thereby influencing specifications as they are set. Remember, if you have to fight to be on the general contractor.s short-list, you are already too late. With the Capacity and Investment Forecast Model you will be the early bird, providing ideas and solutions as the project is taking form.

Furthermore, cells in the CIF Model may contain the most recent press releases on which we base our information, and whether we have valuable contact information available on members of the project team, such as:

  • Project Manager
  • Plant or Site Manager
  • Head of Engineering
  • Head of Procurement for the project or the site
  • Maintenance Manager
  • Etc.

This information is available as an extra service upon request.

Also available upon request is a printout of our Smelter Database (SMELTDB) giving you a complete history and technical description of the smelter including: Smelting technology; Amps; Number of potlines and pots; market, logistics and economical constraints under which the smelter operates; etc.

The CIF Model is available to subscribers of The ENAL Newsletter.

Please inform us of any problems you have in downloading or using the CIF Model. Suggestions on how to make our product more valuable to you are always welcome!
